An Interesting Weekend...
Today is one of those days where you are just happy to be alive. Even more so because of our slightly stressful Friday afternoon... Jessica's ALL IMPORTANT package finally came in. That's right. Her Senior ring. Our baby is growing up. This is a serious occasion, so when Russ brought the package in, we all gathered around her to watch her open it up. She was SOOOO excited, but she wanted to really savor the moment. She slowly tore open the padded envelope and pulled out the jewelers box. Then she slipped the cardboard cover off of it and opened it up... and her face just fell. It wasn't her ring. They sent the wrong one. Several hundred dollars and months of waiting, and it was the wrong ring. I'm not even talking slightly wrong. I'm talking wrong metal, wrong design and MANS RING wrong. She was crushed. Then the chaos began. I was trying to remember where we put our copy of the order form. It was late on a Friday afternoon, so I knew we couldn't even start to straighten this mess all out until Monday morning, but we needed to get the paperwork all together so we could contact both the representative who came to the school selling the rings as well as the company who shipped it out to Jess. Talk about a disappointment. Poor Jess. Then Russ spoke up. "What day is today?" he asked. "Friday, and that's part of the problem because we can't call anyone until Monday!" I replied. "No. What day is today?" he repeated. Then it all clicked. Today would be April 1: April Fools Day. Ugh. More chaos, but at least this time it had a happy ending. Russ pulled her Senior ring out of his pocket and presented it to her. Then he grabbed our friend Tim's ring out of the jewelers case to return it to him. Daddy is a mean, mean man. And Mr. Tim is not much better. (We'll get revenge, you know. This one is going to cost. Big time.) Anyhoo, the weekend brought gorgeous weather and a happy Pre-Senior. Life is good. Unless your name is Russ or Tim. Then you'd better sleep with one eye open. I'm just saying.
